Litigation

Litigation is a major component of the firm's practice. The firm has extensive experience with complicated cases involving commercial and corporate transactions, banking litigation and loan workouts, construction contracts, partnership disputes, title to real estate and real estate sales contracts. In addition, the firm has litigated municipal law issues in numerous special proceedings under Article 78 of the CPLR. Litigation under the New York State environmental laws is an area of particular strength for the firm. Members of the firm have had litigation experience at all levels of the federal and state courts.

The firm brings strong advocacy skills combined with good business judgment to each case. All litigators with the firm are sensitive to the fact that litigation can be expensive and time-consuming for the client, and that litigation is a means to achieve a business or personal objective, not an end in itself. Clients are counseled on ways to avoid litigation altogether, as well as practical, less costly alternative methods for the resolution of disputes. The speedy and economical resolution of claims is of critical concern. In cases where swift resolution is impossible, the client's interests are vigorously advocated at each stage of litigation.
