Ms. Nigro has over 19 years of experience litigating cases in state and federal courts in a variety of areas, including commercial and residential real property disputes, business dissolutions and break-ups, intellectual property disputes, and Article 78 proceedings. She also litigates employment matters, including human rights law and discrimination claims, and class and/or collective action claims arising under federal and state law. In addition, she counsels clients on operational practices to eliminate claims and diminish potential class certification and potential liability. Ms. Nigro is a contributing editor to The Developing Labor Law: the Board, the Courts, and the National Labor Relations Act.

Recently, Ms. Nigro obtained a favorable decision from the Supreme Court, Suffolk County, which overturned a controversial law enacted by the Village of East Hampton that prohibited outdoor events at inns and hotels in the Village.

Ms. Nigro also has a significant appellate practice. She successfully represented the Town of Riverhead in a series of appeals before the Appellate Division, Second Department, arising from hybrid Article 78/ declaratory judgment actions seeking to annul and invalidate the Town’s comprehensive zoning plan and corresponding resolutions adopted by the Town Board.

Ms. Nigro is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. She earned her undergraduate degree from SUNY Albany and her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University. While attending law school, Ms. Nigro worked for the New York State Office of the Attorney General in the Environmental Protection Bureau. She also served as a Special Assistant District Attorney for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, where she argued appeals before the New York State Appellate Division, First Department.

Ms. Nigro worked in private practice in New York City for 12 years before relocating her practice to the East End.

Originally from Huntington, Ms. Nigro resides in East Hampton. She is an avid runner.
